Didn't get home till 2 am-ish last night, so I'll post double today.  First is the front of my car, and yes . . . that is duct tape holding the front bumper in place.  We hit one of those pieces of re-tread debris last night, and did the best we could do to get home without losing the front end (like we did right way to the side piece that goes under the driver's door).  I bet that stuff causes all kinds of damage and accidents - why are truck-drivers allowed to use re-tread tires if they fall apart like that?  This one was almost as tall as the front of my car, but because it was so dark and deserted, we didn't see it in time to avoid it.

Second picture is of a beach house we saw when we drove down Sullivan's Island, SC, yesterday.  It's very unusual, and . . . somewhat ugly, don't you think?  But, I'm sure it was built with hurricane season in mind and probably does an excellent job of surviving bad weather.  And besides, having an ugly house on the beach is still better than having no house on the beach at all, right?
